Sunday with pentagram
Up early with my dissertation, but before I start like every morning,
I put the kettle on
and browse through all my bookmarked Blogs, to see what everyones been up to.
On one, I found the ‘What Type Are You’ test by Pentagram and turning up my speakers proceeded to ask 4 questions.
The answers were that I am:
-Emotional
-Assertive
-Traditional
-Disciplined
Which means I...
Coca Cola heritage
Still working away on my dissertation which on the one hand is stressful as its due Monday, but it has driven my research further and resulted in some great finds..

Your best snaps..
When I was visting my Grandma at the weekend, as well as collecting some brilliant stuff for our Degree’s jumble sale, and some cadbury’s tins to use for my disseration, I found this amazing envelope she was keeping some very old negs in.
She was not sure of the date of the envelope but from the looks of it, it could be late 60’s. The brown stock looks refined and classic...
Less is More
‘The details are not details - they make the product what it is. In the end, these details give the product its life.’
Yesterday I visited the Design Museum with the famailia to see a exhibition about
German designer Braun, who for over 40 years have sought to find ultimate unification and simplicity in design, and brought a whole new era for electronics into our homes, from...
End of the line
Today was our first major deadline, and although it was very tough in the end, I actually feel more satisfied with the quality of finished pieces, and sketchbooks, than I ever have before. By no means was it all perfect, there was one project that I feel will let me down.
But my other two projects are strong, and Im very proud of the work I achieved there..
Including:
my final final final...

M&S jam
I bought this today..i already have loads of jam in the fridge, but the label was calling to me! I might not even open it..but i am patial to raspberry conserve and plus, its Fair Trade.
This is such a gorgeous design and had a great nostalgic feel which I always love, especially at the moment regarding my Hovis project.
My next project..
will be sea related.. cant wait to get back to Cornwall next month..and i keep seeming to come across nautical designs, or imagery with each project i do somehow.. so its time, my heart seems to be longing for it..

Hovis development
On wednesday Heather and I were going to have a Hovis night in to have a 3 week review but like alot of things recently it was postponed due to all this snow! I cant complain though, it is beautiful stuff to have around.
Instead we had a in depth phone meeting instead, in which we discussed an idea I had about designing a little printed catalogue or flyer for the gift range, if we have the time.
...
just brilliant. wish i could capture such moments… maybe i shall.
A little package in the post..
Arrived today. Big smiles .
Snow Day in Manchester
It snowed yesterday and throughout the night and continued through today!
Causing ‘chaos’ across the north west!
So of course, there was only one thing to do = go out in it!

warhol it!
picnic idea..
illustration from a series of shoots i shot yesterday. this one features some scrummy cheese and tomato sandwiches and a flask of tea.
in the photo the blanket was stripey but i didnt want to risk messing up the rest of the line work so i scanned it first, then printed a copy, then added the stripes.
Bakery development..
pretty excited about this one!
the type isnt right yet though; on one hand i should probably let go and not be so strict about it, on the other I want to make the best work I can, so having type im pleased with is key…
i think i shall draw some new type separately, and superimpose it and then see which I prefer..
things ive found that i like..
Bakery
A postcard I bought off Ebay arrived on Friday so ive been having a go at a bakery drawing. Im very pleased with the brickwork on this 3rd version, but the text is still not refined enough, i need to buy a thiner fineliner, or really practice with my tablet.
I think already this is a strong idea however, which I can see being very versatile. Plus Heather approves!
bread styling
Today I styled and shot some scenes for my Hovis project. I am going to create illustrations from the photographs, and perhaps use them in other design work on their own. I am planning to do other shoots with Heather which I want to spend more time styling on than today.
Heres my favourite:
